Metaverse 07, Europe’s conference on Second Life (SL) and Virtual Worlds, which boasts a slew of presentations from well renowned experts, will be held at the Forum at Deutsches Museum in Munich on 19 and 20 November 2007.
The event will play host to over 50 informative presentations that will be broken down to address the three most vital aspects of SL – Business, Technology and Community.
The Business Track of the conference targets marketing decision makers from companies that plan to either get involved in SL or expand their SL presence. Case Studies highlighting internationally successful projects in areas such as IT, telco, automotive, media and consumer goods, promises to give attendees an insight into the experiences and benefits of the early adoption of SL.
Presentations will focus on the target-oriented deployment of SL in marketing-communication. SL pros from companies and agencies will bring to light topics such as brand awareness in SL, successful event and community strategies and technology leadership in virtual worlds. Other interesting topics include regulatory frameworks of SL and the deployment possibilities of virtual worlds for education.
Attendees can expect the Technology aspect of the conference to centre on knowledge transfer for SL designers and programmers. Well-know experts such as Guenter Henke-- author of the first German speaking book on the Linden Scripting Language-- and the renowned content creator Maximilian Milosz aka Tor Karstensen, who is the owner of Maximum Minimum, to address all phases of the production process of own content in SL.
Technology Track presentations include: Linden Scripting Language, Sculpted Prims, Movable Objects, gestures and poses as well as audio and video in SL. A notable highlight would have to be the design aspect of SL; a host of presentations will focus on topics such as clothes and attachments, avatar modelling, furniture and interior design and architecture on the meta-level.
The focal point of the Community Track will be on the exchange of thoughts and getting acquainted in Real Life. Presentation by well-known SL celebrities such as Second Life DJ Tom Bender or Laguna Beach operator Martin Sassenberg will take centre stage.
The Community Track will also include the Apfelland-User-Meeting-- the biggest German-speaking community in Second Life and one of the most frequented landmasses in Second Life.
Metaverse 07 will wrap up with a comprehensive social program that will build a bridge between Real Life and Second Life and an exhibition showcasing the projects and products of companies that are active in Second Life.
Metaverse 07 is initiated by Software & Support Verlag, a leading conference organiser, and Bokowsky + Laymann, a renowned German Second Life agency. Media partners of Metaverse include The Avastar, the leading magazine in Second Life and the ingame radio station Second Radio.
