Last minute change in the schedule
Instead of Rowan Barnett of the Avastar will be Sebastian Funke Co-Founder of sMeet with us at the Metaverse.
Rowan Barnett, Chief Editor of the Avastar can't unfortionately not be with us at the Metaverse. Luckily we had been able to catch another high-class speaker that will fill the gap. Sebastian Funke, Co-Founder of sMeet will hold a talk on the topic: "Media Convergence in Virtual Worlds". sMeet is on of the most promising new German based Virtual World Start-Ups. So, one more new World for the Metaverse!
Rowans Seat in the Panel Diskussion: "Future of Media in Virtual Worlds" will be taken by Sebastian Meyen from Software & Support Media.

New worlds at Metaverse
Metaverse will this year not only focus on Second Life but also on other virtual worlds that are in development or already in normal operation.
The lecture given by Sascha Wriedt and Dr Torsten Reiners from the University of Hamburg provides a good introduction to this topic. They have systematically examined new virtual worlds and, in their lecture, will offer an overview of the current situation.
In his lecture, "Looking Beyond one's own four walls", Nic Mitham from KZero will provide a summary existing virtual worlds and future areas of growth. KZero is one of the most renowned Virtual Worlds consultancies in the UK and well known for its representation of market development. KZero has probably collected the best data concerning the size and segmentation of these worlds in terms of their socio-demographic criteria. At Metaverse, Nic will present the latest figures and talk about future prospects.
So what does all this mean for my company? Is it worthwhile investing in the new worlds or rather in Second life? What fits in better with my brand?
In his lecture, Markus Bokowsky will describe strategies that bring success for virtual worlds.

Programme highlights: Three panel discussions on the subject of media, the law and further education.
Besides lectures and case studies the three panel discussions will also provide plenty of insight into the subject:
This year's Round Table Discussion focusses on the subject of "The future of the media in virtual worlds". Representatives from the most important InGame Media and their colleagues from Real Life will discuss the relevance of the media in Second Life today and on their future development.

The discussion, "Development of Rules and Norms in Virtual Worlds" will generate more philosophical questions. Can we continue to hold on to the utopian belief in the existance of a self-regulating society model in a parallel world? How could operative control processes work in a virtual world? Do virtual worlds need democratic structures in addition to executive forces?

Programme Highlights: the Bavarian State Library in Second Life.
The Bavarian State Library will present its Second Life model at Metaverse under the heading, "Chances for information services in virtual worlds".
Cultural and scientific institutions are discovering more and more potential in virtual worlds. Dr Klaus Ceynowa, Deputy Managing Director of the Bavarian State Library will present his institution in Second life following its recent entry into SL. The BSL counts as one of the world's most important libraries.

Programme Highlights: Summary of existing virtual worlds and future areas of growth.
Second Life was just the beginning: a summary of the most important metaverses.
Until now, the economic and media coverage of SL has made it the metaverse that has received the most public interest, but as Nic Mitham's presentation will show, there is a large number of additional interesting virtual worlds and their number is continually increasing. Nic will segment virtual worlds by socio-demographic criteria and will uncover the most important growth sectors.

Linden Lab at Metaverse
We are especially delighted to this year again welcome at Metaverse a representativve of Linden Lab.
Jean Miller, aka Jean Linden, Germany. Head of the Lab, will hold a lecture on business in virtual worlds- what to consider. on Wednesday, 11 am. Not to be missed. Jean will also be part of the panel discussion about Education in Virtual Worlds.

Restart 2008: Metaverse08 RealWorld -
After the succesful inWorld Premiere, the Metaverse Conference will have it´s first RealWorld edition from 27th to 28th Mai in Karlsruhe Germany.
The Metaverse Team has allready started the arrangements for Metaverse08, which will take place on 27th and 28 th May in the Congress Center of Karlsruhe.
Here a short look on the most important innovations:
1. Open for other Worlds
Besides Second Life the Metaverse will also focus on other Worlds. So the Conference will cover the whole issue of 3D Web.
2. Business Orientation
The main focus will be: "How to use Virtual Worlds as a succesful business application." But of course there will also be a technik track.
3. One ticket - three conferences
The Metaverse08 will take place parallel to webinalewebinale and Dynamic Languages World. So the ticket will also be valid for the other two conferences.

Metavers07 is over. We want to thank all Participants and I think we can say, it was a success.
Two exiting and challenging days lay behind us. We want to thank again all our speakers, visitors and partners. I think we can say the premiere of the Metaverse conference was a success. We had over 120 unique Avatars on the SIM, ther had been constantly 40-50 Attendees even on the Tuesday were SL was suffering massive login problems. In the next days we'll have a look at all the footage we recorded and will then decide what we can offer for download on the website. We'll post it in the news as soon as we have it. In the meanwhile have a look at our foto gallery, there are some fantastic shots from the conference program as well as from the partys.

The official opening is only 1 hour away. For all those who can´t attend the conference ingame, it will be possible to follow the conference via Audio Stream.

Metaverse 07 - Now inWorld
New Conference Concept: Metaverse 07 inWorld in Second Life, Metaverse 08 realWorld in Spring 2008 in Ludwigsburg.
Metaverse, the Conference on Second Life and Virtual World, which was supposed to take place in Munich on 19 and 20 of November, has been postponed to spring 2008 due to current market developments. Initially Metaverse will take place inGame in Second Life. Since it was established in 2003, Second Life has become one of the most innovative and profitable projects in the IT and business world. And as much as there are doubts, there is also no denying that a change is definitely going to take place and it is set to have its effects on the industry and community alike. Software & Support Verlag has initiated Metaverse 07 together with the Second Life experts Bokowsky & Layman with the objective to report on the latest technological trends and progress. From the organizers point of view the topic Second Life is not the problem, but the insecure market situation. Therefore the conference has been postponed and the conference concept will be aligned accordingly. inGame Conference on 19 and 20 November 2007 Initially Metaverse 07 will take place inGame in Second Life on 19 and 20 November. The location will be the conference homebase "IT Republic". In the spring of 2008 the Real Life Metaverse will take place in parallel with webinale '08. "The webinale 08 has a holistic concept and is dedicated to all Web 2.0 topics. Hence, webinale 07 is the ideal counterpart of Metaverse 08," says Masoud Kamali, CEO of Software & Support Verlag, the co initiator of Metaverse and organizer of webinale.

Sponto will come!
Spiegel Online editor Christian Stöcker will present a lecture of his SL bestseller within the Community track.
Stöcker is well-known through his regular SL column in Spiegel Online. With his avatar Sponto Christian is discovering the fascinating 3D world and reports of cyber encounters, virtual real estate purchase and other exciting adventures. In 2007 his book "Second Life. A manual for the digital wonder world" has been published. It contains his best columns and other texts on Second Life.

The next edition of the Mexx Pfeffer Talk, the talkshow on Second Radio, will be dedicated to Metaverse 07.
Next Thursday, 30 August 07 will see a special feature on Metaverse in the Mexx Pfeffer Talk on Second Radio. Metaverse initiator Markus Bokowsky will be the guest of host Mexx Pfeffer. The Mexx Pfeffer Talk is on air every Thursday at 9am SLT - 6pm German time on Second Radio.

Eric Call will attend Metaverse
Eric Call formerly aka Eric Linden, one of the first SL activists, has confirmed his participation at Metaverse. He will give two talks within the Technology track on Machinima and textures.
Metaverse is looking forward to Eric Call's participation at the conference. He will present two talks within the Technology track. Eric is better known as Eric Linden. He had the key role of the link between the technicians and the designers at Linden Lab. He has a legendary reputation as one of the worldwide leading Machinima experts. Hence he will give besides a presentation on textures, one on Machinima production.

The ingame radio station Second Radio becomes another media partner of Metaverse.
Second Radio is probably the most successful German speaking radio station in Second Life focusing exclusively on Second Life: news, trends, gossip and the latest fashion trends. The radio station will cover the conference extensively.
